The gyrfalcon is the largest of the falcon species and breeds in the arctic tundra and coastal areas. Gyrfalcons show sexual dimorphism (the adult female is larger than the adult male). They are hunting birds that feed on ptarmigan and waterfowl, often right from the sky, as well as fish and mammals.
