Purple pitcher plant
The purple pitcher plant (Sarracenia purpurea) also known as the northern pitcher plant, turtle socks, or side-saddle flower, is a carnivorous plant in the family Sarraceniaceae. The purple pitcher plant obtains most of its nutrients through prey capture. However, prey capture is said to be inefficient, with less than 1% of visting prey captured by the pitcher. Prey items include flies, ants, and spiders.
