Butterflies and moths have four wings covered with coloured scales. Their mouthparts are in a coiled tube. Butterflies: clubbed antennae, brightly coloured, wings held upright, day flight. Moths: no clubbed antennae, dull-coloured, wings held flat, usually night flight but some during the day.
